He subsequently obtained his Dr. Rer. Nat. working at the Max Planck Institut fur Strahlenchimie in Milheim/Ruhr, Germany. He has researched on several subjects both in Germany and in the U.K. and has worked for two companies developing scientific instruments before joining the University. In 1993 he spent a sabbatical year at the MPI/Mainz whence arose his present interest in Atmospheric Research. Dr. Ellul currently lectures on Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy, and is responsible for running the University Atmospheric Research Station
